Since 2008 the simple idea behind this media event has remained the same. Carving out a life-size snow castle creating a unique obstacle in a breathtaking surrounding and inviting some of the world’s bestathletes, photographers and film makers for a week long super session.
The 5th edition of the Suzuki Nine Queens will see an elite crew of female skiers and snowboarders session the giant setup in the picturesque setting in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis in Austria, from the 15th-20th March 2015. Sunset and sunrise shoots during the week, will lead up to the Big Air Contest on Friday 20th of March, a day not to miss.

It’s official, the Suzuki Nine Knights will for the first time see snowboarders ride side by side with the skiers at the infamous “Il Castello” on Mottolino Fun Mountain in Livigno from the 5th to the 10th of April 2015. The multifaceted feature will again push the boundaries of snow construction, and surprises are to be expected. The public night session is set for the 8th of April, last year saw 4000 spectators climb on top of the mountain to watch the lit up spectacle. The Contest Day, a true battle royale will take place on Friday the 10th of April.
Part of the event series is also the summer time Suzuki Nine Knights MTB, featuring top level freeride mountain bikers during a week 31st August– 5th September 2015 on Mottolino Fun Mountain, Livigno, Italy.
What a great first year of snowboarding at the event! Sunset, lifestyle and helicopter shoots, as well as, jib sessions and a fantastic contest day all added up to a great introduction of snowboarding to the 2014 Suzuki Nine Queens presented by O’Neill in Livigno, Italy. There are many reasons to celebrate the weeklong Suzuki Nine Queens presented by O’Neill that took place in Livigno, Italy. In addition to the big air contest winners, the peer-voted awards determined the “Best Overall” skier and snowboarder, as well as, who had the “Best Style” and “Best GoPro Shot”. An integral part of the event concept has always been the photo contest and this year saw the spotlight aimed at the people behind the lenses once again.
The success of bringing together the ski and snowboard female pro’s for the first time shows in this highlight edit, with never before seen action!
Our talented and incredibly creative, invited photographers Christoph Schöch (AUT) , Eleonora Raggi (ITA), Nate Abbott (USA) and Alex Papis (AUT) excelled this week. Not only pushing for a fresh vision and new ways of documenting some of the world’s best skiers and snowboarders throwing down at the “Il Castello” on Mottolino Fun Mountain, they kept it cool, worked closely together with the riders and had fun! The 2014 Suzuki Nine Queens presented by O’Neill in Livigno would not have been the same without them! We love you guys! The results are amazing, see for yourselves….drum roll…there are the 4 different category winners…

There were many reasons to celebrate at the gala night of Suzuki Nine Queens presented by O’Neill. The awards winners were nominated through peer voting, with the focus throughout of creativity, progression and fun. The riders were buzzing after an excellent heli-shoot session and in a elated mood, watched their footage and photos from the week to vote for “Best GoPro shot”, “Best style” and “Overall” skier and snowboarder of the week.
An integral part of Nine Queens is the photorapher’s awards. The four invited photographers Eleonora Raggi (ITA), Christoph Schöch (GER), Alex Papis (AUT) and Nate Abbot (USA) spent the week working closely together with the riders to ensure that the top notch riding and epic set-up was documented in style. The photographers chose the categories for themselves; Best Action, Best Illumination, Best Group Action and Best Lifestyle.
The room was full of dancing and cheering as the preroll of the event footage kicked in, and the heavy baseline pumped as the weeks action rolled out in front of the girls. Beloved event director, Nico Zacek hyped the crowd, and began presenting the photographers. Continue reading
Style and innovation were the judging criteria for the Big Air contest that took place on the 29th of March 2014 in Livigno, Italy for the Suzuki Nine Queens presented by O’Neill. After many days of shooting at the colossal castle the invited riders where amped to push the level of riding in the jam session.
Crowds of people gathered to watch as the third day rolled in at the Suzuki Nine Queens presented by O’Neill, at Mottolino Fun Mountain, Livigno. The girls were stepping it up making the most of the great conditions and in preparation for the big air contest!

The second day of the Suzuki Nine Queens presented by O’Neill started with a happy surprise as bluebird conditions met the riders heading up to “il Castello” on Mottolino Fun Mountain. Throughout the day the freeskiers and snowboarders rode side by side sessioning one feature after the other. An eager group of freeski and snowboard girls arrived from all corners of the globe to the huge snow castle for the first day of the Suzuki Nine Queens presented by O’Neill. The event has now officially kicked off with the girls testing out the many different obstacles of the “il Castello” at Mottolino Fun Mountain.
